Injectable Fillers

The MedSpa at Wake Plastic Surgery proudly serves Cary, Raleigh, and the surrounding areas.

We are all getting older. We see it in the mirror and know that it is happening. But most of us do not necessarily “feel” older - we just look older. There are predictable signs of aging that happen to almost all of us. The skin starts to wrinkle and the structures of the face start to look more and more tired. Fortunately, there are some non-surgical ways to fight back against time that are safe and effective. Injectable fillers are extremely effective and can be used without significant risk or downtime to restore some of our more youthful characteristics.

Why choose Wake Plastic Surgery?

In theory, the techniques used for injectables can be taught to anyone. But many of the fine details that can optimize a result or minimize the risk of complications requires a complete understanding of the anatomy and physiology of the face. We see quite a few patients every year that have been disappointed after “bargain shopping” for injectables at the deal of the week location. In the end, it is your face and you should have 100% confidence in whoever is working on it for you.

Our experienced nurse injectors have the training and expertise to administer a variety of dermal fillers to achieve the best possible results in a safe, clean, and welcoming environment. Our style of treatment is conservative, so that you still look like you, just refreshed! Our nurse injectors also work with each patient’s unique facial anatomy, so there are no “cookie cutter” treatments.

What areas are treated with facial fillers?

Which injectable fillers do our Medspa providers use?

We carry the full line of FDA approved Juvederm fillers. Juvederm filler gels are made with hyaluronic acid, which is naturally occurring in the body. Hyaluronic acid is important in maintaining healthy and smooth skin because it attracts water molecules making the skin look plump. As we age, our bodies start to slow down the production of this vital substance, which can contribute to loss of volume, wrinkles, and sagging skin.  The hyaluronic acid fillers can be placed in certain areas of the face and jawline to help replenish the amount of hyaluronic acid there, helping to lessen the appearance of volume loss and wrinkles.

Juvederm Ultra Plus

This dermal filler is great for treating deeper folds and wrinkles in the skin, such as the nasolabial folds, parenthesis lines around the mouth. It can also be used to enhance the lips, chin, and cheeks. This filler can last up to a year.

Juvederm Voluma XC

This dermal filler helps to sculpt and replenish volume loss in the upper cheek that comes naturally with aging. As we age you may notice that the side of the face is flatter, and not as curved anymore. This curve that starts at the top of the cheek bone to the jawline is called the “ogee curve” and dermal filler is a great non-invasive option to restore that youthful curve. This filler can last up to two years.

Juvederm Volbella XC

This dermal filler is perfect for the lips and lips lines because the type of gel in this filler is very soft and moves seamlessly with all the movements of our lips. It also can help smooth lines around the lips, commonly called “smoker lines.” This filler can last 6 months to a year.

Juvederm Vollure

This dermal filler helps soften the appearance of lines and wrinkles. It can last up to 18 months.

Juvederm Volux

The first and only FDA approved dermal filler, can define the jawline, and add shape and structure to the lower face.

Restylane L

Restylane L is a HA (hyaluronic acid) based dermal filler designed to restore structure and volume to the undereye area. Treating this area can help you look more refreshed. This filler can last up to 6 months to a year.

SkinVive

Get an instant glow that lasts up to 6 – 9 months with FDA approved injectable hyaluronic acid, SkinVive, from Allergan. SkinVive is the newest edition to the Juvederm line and is the perfect boost to your skincare routine. While it is injected like a filler, it is injected at a very shallow depth where it diffuses into the skin and instantly plumps and hydrates. SkinVive helps to improve overall all skin texture and hydration as the HA molecules in the gel attract water molecules to the skin, which boosts and adds a long lasting glowy appearance to the skin. A typical SkinVive treatment session is 2-3 syringes with the appointment about an hour in length.

Does getting filler hurt?

A common question our injectors hear is “Does getting filler hurt?” The short answer is, maybe a little bit! The longer answer is that our injectors want you to be as comfortable as possible during your appointment and will use a topical numbing cream prior to treatment. The dermal fillers also contain lidocaine so that it continues to numb the areas being treated from the inside. Our hope is that our patients only feel the initial pinch at the injection site.
