Sculptra
The MedSpa at Wake Plastic Surgery proudly serves Cary, Raleigh, and the surrounding areas.
Sculptra is an FDA approved injectable regenerative biostimulator used to improve the appearance of cheek wrinkles, restore facial volume, and improve skin quality. Sculptra not only serves as a contour enhancement to the cheek area, but due to its powerful ability to stimulate natural collagen production with injectable poly-L-lactic acid (PLLA), the treatment has the lasting power of up to 2 years of noticeably smooth and plump cheeks. With a high patient satisfaction rating from 94% of patients* treated with Sculptra, the treatment provides foundational strength to the skin and a lasting glow leaving people wondering how you look so radiant.
Am I a good candidate for Sculptra?
If you are wanting to improve the skin quality and laxity in your cheeks, smiles lines, and marionette lines you may be the perfect candidate for Sculptra. Sculptra is beneficial for people who have experienced facial volume loss after taking a GLP-1, Semaglutide, or Tirzepatide. For best results with Sculptra, your nurse injector may combine a Sculptra treatment to the lower face area with another dermal filler to add structure to facial hollowing below the cheekbones. After a comprehensive consultation with your aesthetic nurse injector, together you will discuss if Sculptra is the best option for you.
Who is not a good candidate for Sculptra?
Safety is always the number one priority at MedSpa at Wake Plastic Surgery. Areas to discuss and consider with your provider before beginning treatment are:
- Individuals with certain autoimmune disorders may not be the best candidate for Sculptra, but it does not completely rule out the possibility for treatment. It is always best to inform your provider of any autoimmune disorders so they can help you make the best-informed decision.
- If you are pregnant, planning to become pregnant, or breast feeding it is best to abstain from treatment.
- If you have allergies to lidocaine, PLLA, carboxymethylcellulose, or mannitol you may not be a candidate for Sculptra.

What can I expect after my Sculptra treatment?
Common side effects after the initial Sculptra treatment can include swelling, tenderness, redness, and bruising at the injection site. This will fade over the next few days, and your skin will start to look lifted, firmer, and glowy. To achieve the best possible outcome, it is recommended that patients are treated 2-3 times with Sculptra, approximately four weeks apart. Three months after the final treatment, you will see an improved appearance of the midface shape and enhanced contour in the cheek and a reduction in cheek wrinkles.
Why choose the Nurse Injectors at Wake Plastic Surgery?
At the MedSpa at Wake Plastic Surgery, our highly trained aesthetic nurses have the benefit of the supervision of two board-certified plastic surgeons on site. The injectables we use are safe and effective, but there certainly is more risk when they are being administered by someone without the proper training and certification. The nurse injectors at Wake Plastic Surgery have the knowledge, training, and experience and are committed to providing you with the service, safety, and results that you should expect.
Emily has been a registered nurse for 20+ years with 10+ years of experience in medical aesthetics with Wake Plastic Surgery. Kristi has been a registered nurse for 9+ years and in medical aesthetics for 15+ years. She continued to expand her knowledge base with her CANS certification in 2019. CANS stands for Certified Aesthetic Nurse Specialist and the certification is awarded after extended training and passing a rigorous exam.
