How does miraDry® work?
The miraDry® procedure is performed in the safety and comfort of our designated treatment room while you rest, relax, or watch television. Once a local anesthetic has been administered to the treatment area, our miraDry® technician will guide the handpiece to deliver proprietary miraWave™ energy into the underarm, which heats and eliminates sweat glands in the targeted region. During the procedure, the system simultaneously cools the skin to help protect surrounding tissues and minimize any potential discomfort. Most patients achieve great results after just one treatment; but some patients do choose a second to achieve the most optimal outcome.
Isn’t eliminating sweat glands dangerous?
Although sweating is important for temperature control of the body, less than 2% of the body’s sweat glands are located in the armpits. Removing these underarm sweat glands does not have an adverse effect on the body’s ability to cool itself

What can I expect after treatment?
MiraDry® results are long-lasting and immediate. There is often some minor swelling, tenderness, and redness in the underarms, but these minor issues subside in just a few days. Most patients are able to return to their jobs or daily routines as soon as they leave the office, though certain physical exercises and/or strenuous activities should be avoided for at least a few days.
How many treatments will I need?
Most patients have exceptional results with just a single treatment, but some may need two sessions for more severe cases of hyperhidrosis for optimal sweat reduction. The number of treatments that will be best for you will be discussed with one of our expert miraDry® providers at the time of your consultation.
