Busting Lip Filler Myths!
Posted November 25, 2025 in Uncategorized
In this age of social media, it’s easy to get overwhelmed with information – and misinformation, especially in the world of aesthetic treatments. Today we’ll discuss some of the myths surrounding lip-filler, a treatment that is becoming increasingly popular and common among our patients.
- Lip Fillers Look Fake and “duck-like”.
It’s a common misconception that lip filler is one of the easiest cosmetic procedures to spot. In actuality, the appearance of “ducky” or fake-looking lips is usually a result of over-filling or poor placement. Here at Wake Plastic Surgery, our experienced Nurse Injectors treat conservatively and with precision to give natural results. - All Lip Filler Migrates
One of the most popular myths on social media today is that all lip-fillers do, and will eventually, migrate. While migration can happen, it is not a guarantee, and generally comes down to poor technique, over-filling, using the wrong filler type in the lips or not following post- procedure instructions. Our Nurse Injectors use dermal fillers especially formulated for use in the lips – and if you are already dealing with migration, your filler can be safely dissolved with hyaluronidase. - Lip Filler is Very Painful
While the idea of needles is not always a pleasant one, we do our best to ensure the least painful experience possible. Most of our dermal fillers are formulated with lidocaine, to help numb your lips as they are being injected – and our Nurse Injectors apply a topical numbing cream before starting treatment. Coupled with an experienced, professional touch, many patients find themselves surprised by how easy the process is.
