It’s Rosacea Awareness Month!

Posted April 25, 2024 in MedSpa Treatments, Skin Care Treatments, Skincare Products

Did you know that April is Rosacea Awareness Month? Rosacea effects almost 400 million people worldwide. Today, we’ll be talking about what exactly rosacea is, and how we treat it here at the MedSpa at Wake Plastic Surgery.

What is Rosacea?

Rosacea is a chronic skin condition characterized by redness in the cheeks and T-zone (forehead, nose, and chin). Left untreated, this redness can worsen and lead to visible blood vessels, dry skin, and small bumps along with stinging and burning sensations.

How Can Rosacea be Treated?

While a cure for rosacea has not been found, there are plenty of ways to treat it! Rosacea presents differently in everyone who has it, so there are many different ways to manage these symptoms, too. Here at the MedSpa, our estheticians will use skin products that specifically treat rosacea symptoms, the BBL laser, an Oxygen Facial, or a mix-match of these treatments to help soothe rosacea in our patients. These treatments and products help to calm down the inflammation that causes rosacea-like symptoms, and help those symptoms stay under control.

If you think you may have rosacea and are interested in talking to one of our medical aestheticians, Carla or Hope, please reach out to our office here or give us a call at (919) 805-3441. We would be happy to help you schedule a consultation and get you started on your journey to healthier skin!
