New At The MedSpa: SkinVive!

Our blog today is focused on a new treatment here at the MedSpa at Wake Plastic Surgery: Skinvive! This newcomer to the injectables market is the first and only Hyaluronic Acid microdroplet injectable indicated to improve cheek skin smoothness. What does this mean? Essentially, Skinvive is an injectable form of Hyaluronic Acid, which most people apply topically as part of their skincare routines. By injecting the HA directly into the cheeks, it aids in helping to retain your skin’s natural moisture and softness, which can lead to an improvement in the smoothness of your cheeks and overall glow for up to 6 months. Our Nurse Injector Emily explains Skinvive below:
“Skinvive is a new class of injectable from Juvéderm that is truly injectable skincare. Its job isn’t to add volume, as the traditional Juvéderm products that you know and love do, but rather Skinvive’s job is to hydrate the skin from the inside out. Skinvive contains microdroplets of Hyaluronic Acid which are injected just below the skin’s surface, working to add hydration to the skin at a level that topical Hyaluronic Acids just can’t reach. The result is a beautiful glow and skin that is supple with a hydrated plumpness, giving patients the smooth ‘filtered skin’ look that we all desire.”
“While some patients see results quickly, full results can take up to a month or more, so patience is key! But I promise it’s worth the wait, and results can last 6 months or more. As with any injectable, bruising is always a possibility, but this is certainly a treatment which requires little to no downtime. It is quickly becoming a staff favorite!”
Several of the WPS team members have already experienced the Skinvive treatment, and below is an interview we did post-treatment! Read on to get a little more insight into this new treatment, and possibly answer some of the questions you may have.
1. What are the biggest improvements/changes you have noticed in your skin after getting treated with Skinvive?
“I have noticed the area on my cheeks has been significantly more hydrated than normally at this time of the year. My nasolabial folds do not look as deep post Skinvive – they look and feel hydrated with just the slightest plumping in the crease, that lessens the usual harshness of the lines.”
2. Would you recommend Skinvive to someone who is new to injectables?
“I think this is a great introduction to the filler family as it does not increase the volume in the area, just hydrates to give a glowing look. We can all use a little glow!”
3. Did getting Skinvive hurt?
“My Skinvive treatment felt exactly like getting Botox: just a few small pinches in the cheeks. I did have one area that bruised on the left side of my nose, which worked itself out after about a week.”
4. Would you get Skinvive again?
“I am very much looking forward to my next Skinvive treatment! Because of how hydrated and alive my skin felt post-procedure, I am excited to receive this treatment again.”
